Every week I get messages from people apologising for daring to ask because they "heard it looks like a tattoo and the pain is unbearable." Time to put these myths to rest.
Myth #1: "It'll look like a tattoo"
No. Tattoo ink goes much deeper into the skin, it doesn't look natural, it stays black, and it's permanent. Permanent makeup is a completely different technique — pigment only goes into the superficial skin layers, it's matched to facial tones, and it fades over time.
Good permanent makeup looks like you just look like yourself, but better. People don't realise it's permanent at all.
Myth #2: "The pain is unbearable"
Most clients say afterwards: "I expected much worse." Before the procedure we apply topical anaesthetic cream. There can be some discomfort, sensitivity is individual, but "unbearable" — that's a rare case.
Myth #3: "It lasts forever"
No. Depending on technique and skin type — 1–3 years. After that you either refresh it or let it fade. It's not permanent forever — it's a decision you can revisit.
Myth #4: "I can't go to work after the procedure"
You can. Right after the procedure the colour is darker, there might be some slight swelling. But go home, wait a couple of hours — everything normalises. Most clients go to work the same or the next day.
Myth #5: "It's risky and unsafe"
It's risky when done by an unprofessional with unsafe materials. When performed by a certified artist with single-use needles and certified pigments — it's a safe process. Before the procedure, you can always ask about materials, certifications and hygiene protocol.
